Glossary of Terms
The docs (and the VXE itself) use some terms in a specific way. Each entry below gives the plain-English meaning first; the Technically line links to the developer-side reference if you want to go deeper.
Visual Experience Engine (VXE) — The BILDIT admin where you create, edit, schedule, and publish content. There's one for your website (Web VXE) and one for your mobile app (Mobile App VXE). The UI may still label some actions Live Editor or CMS — same product. Technically: Web VXE tour · Platform overview
Live Editor — On website workspaces, the in-context editor opened from Scheduled Content → Live Editor. This is how you place and edit content in page slots on the Web VXE. Technically: Visual Editor Setup
Scheduled Content — A piece of content with a schedule attached: it appears and disappears automatically based on the dates you set. This is the core thing you create in the VXE — promos, hero images, seasonal messages. Technically: Scheduled Content Concept
Template — A reusable page layout. You pick one and fill it with your own text, images, colors, and links — the design and responsiveness are handled for you. Technically: templates are React components with configurable variables, built by developers — Standard Template Guide · Templates overview
Slot — A placeholder region where scheduled content appears. On the web, slots have names like HOME-TOP-SLOT and mark regions of a page. In the mobile app, a slot is a number that also sets display priority — lower numbers show higher.
Technically: VXE tour: slot management
Schedule — The date-and-time window(s) when content is visible. Content can carry several windows (e.g. two separate sale weeks). Times use your local timezone. Technically: Basic Scheduling · Advanced Scheduling
Asset — A reusable block of content (text, images, links) that your app displays — write once, use anywhere. Only visible when published and inside its schedule window. Technically: Assets Concept
Media — The images and videos in your Media Gallery, ready to drop into scheduled content, assets, and screens. Technically: Media Concept
Page — A screen of your mobile app built from an asset — like "About Us" — that appears in the app's menu. Technically: Pages Concept
Nested Scheduled Content — Scheduled content placed inside another item's slot (e.g. promo tiles inside a hero layout). Goes one level deep only. In the editor, use Select from Banner List to pick nested items. Technically: Nested Scheduled Content
Component (modal) — The dialog titled Component when you add content to a web slot. Tabs: Templates (new layouts) and Scheduled Content (reuse existing items).
Component — A pre-built building block your developer publishes to the VXE; you pick components from lists when configuring content or screens. A Remote Component can be updated without an app release; a Local Component ships inside the app itself. Technically: Components Concept · Local Components
Environment — Which copy of your site or app you're editing: Production (live, customer-facing), Staging (a safe workspace), or sometimes Development. Shown as a badge in the app switcher. Technically: Switching apps
Replication — Copying content from Staging to Production in one action — run immediately or scheduled. It overwrites the destination. Admins run it from Admin → Replications. Technically: Content Replication · Replication Concept
Auto Archiver — Daily housekeeping that moves expired content (all schedule windows ended) out of your live list into Archived, automatically. Technically: Auto Archiver
Push Notification — A message sent to your app users' phones. Send now, schedule for later, and optionally deep-link it to a screen in your app. Technically: Push Notifications
Deep Link — A link that opens a specific screen inside your app (rather than a web page) — used in push notifications and scheduled content tap-targets. Technically: Deep-link a push
App (workspace) — One brand/app instance in the VXE. You may have access to several — the switcher in the top-left corner controls which one you're editing. Technically: Apps
Category — A product or navigation grouping in your mobile app. You can hide categories and change their order without an app update. Technically: Categories
Specification — The VXE's name for a mobile app screen's configuration. You can update a specification's images and links; developers create new ones. Technically: Specifications
Campaign ID — An optional tag on scheduled content or a push that ties it to your campaign tracking. Technically: see the form-field reference in Create Scheduled Content
Email Subject Line Generator — The VXE's AI tool that drafts email subject lines and pre-headers to your prompt, tone, and length constraints. Technically: Email Subject Lines
App Clip — A lightweight slice of your iOS app that customers can use without installing the full app. Technically: App Clips
SDK — The code your developers install once so your site or app renders VXE content. After that, everything in this guide works without engineering help. Technically: Web SDK integration · Mobile SDK
