Getting Started
This guide will help you navigate the BILDIT Web Visual Experience Engine interface and understand the basic functionality for managing your website content.
This section covers managing content in the VEE. To render scheduled content on your production website, also set up the Next.js Integration. On a Next.js site, a slot maps to <SlotPlaceholder slotId="...">.
Accessing the Visual Experience Engine
Select Website Environment
- Click the icon in the top left of the Visual Experience Engine interface
- Scroll to the bottom of the environments list
- Select your website environment (e.g. Sandbox, Dev, Staging, Production)
The environment selector allows you to manage content across different deployment stages.
Initial Navigation
Primary Navigation Options
- Click "Scheduled Content" to preview and manage your scheduled content
- Use "Preview" in the top left to access the website editor
- Select different sections from the left sidebar based on your needs
Understanding the Interface
Scheduled Content Editor Ribbon
The top ribbon, labeled "SCHEDULED CONTENT EDITOR", contains essential controls:
Admin/Public Mode Switch
- Admin: Editing mode for content management and scheduled content creation
- Public: Desktop preview mode for content review and testing
Device Preview Options
- Desktop view: See how content appears on desktop screens
- Tablet view: Preview content on tablet devices
- Mobile view: Ensure mobile users have an optimal experience
Date Selection
- Choose dates to preview scheduled content
- The default view shows the current date and time
- Preview future scheduled content by selecting different dates
Performance Features
Image Preloading
- Images are automatically preloaded for faster page load times
- Visual Experience Engine settings allow fine-tuning of preloading behavior
- Optimized for bandwidth and performance
Skeleton Loading
- Provides visual feedback during content loading
- Improves perceived performance
- Smooth transitions between loading states
Basic Navigation
Slot Management
Slots are containers where your scheduled content will appear on the website.
Identifying Slots
- Identify slots by their names or IDs (e.g., "HOME-TOP-SLOT", "slot1")
- View the number of scheduled content items currently assigned to each slot
- Use the "+" icon to add new scheduled content to a slot
Slot Organization
- Each slot corresponds to a
<SlotPlaceholder>(by itsslotId) in your site - Slots can contain multiple scheduled content items with different schedules
- Scheduled content order within slots can be managed by drag and drop
Scheduled Content Controls
Once you have scheduled content in your slots:
- Drag and reorder scheduled content within slots to change display priority
- Access scheduled content details via the info icon to see configuration
- Edit or delete scheduled content using the control buttons on each item
- View scheduled content status to see if it's currently active or scheduled
