Uploading & Managing Assets
Everything your app and website display starts with the material you upload: the images and videos in your Media Gallery, and the reusable content blocks the VXE calls Assets. This page covers both — where they live, how to add them, and the one rule that decides whether they actually show up.
The Media Gallery: your images and videos
The Media Gallery is your shared library of images and videos. Open Media in the left sidebar. Anything you upload here is available everywhere media can be used — scheduled content, assets, app screens, logos, and template previews.
What you can do in the Gallery:
- Upload — drag and drop files onto the upload area, or click it to pick files from your computer.
- Organize with folders — group media by campaign, season, or team so it stays findable.
- Browse and preview — view your library as a grid; click any item to see it full-size.
- Edit — rename a file, move it to another folder, or copy its URL to paste anywhere a link is accepted.
- Delete — deleted items move to a trash folder rather than disappearing immediately, so an accidental delete isn't fatal.
The Gallery shows 40 items per page — use the pagination controls or folders to navigate larger libraries.
What file types can I upload?
| Type | Formats |
|---|---|
| Images | PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, APNG, AVIF, SVG |
| Videos | MP4, WebM, OGG |
Large files slow your pages down, and uploads over about 5MB may fail. Compress images before uploading — your customers on mobile connections will thank you.
The VXE automatically records each image's dimensions when you upload it, so your content can render sharply on every screen size — no extra work needed on your part.
Assets: reusable content blocks
An Asset is a reusable block of content — text, images, and links packaged together — that your app displays. Think of an asset as a piece of page content you write once and reuse: a store-hours blurb, an "About Us" section, a promo message.
When you create or edit an asset, you choose between two editors:
- Text Editor — a familiar what-you-see-is-what-you-get editor. Write and format like you would in a document. Use this one unless you have a reason not to.
- HTML Editor — the same content as raw HTML, for when you (or a developer) need precise control.
An asset only appears when it is published and the current date falls inside its schedule window. A saved draft, or a published asset whose schedule ended yesterday, shows nothing — with no error. If an asset seems to have vanished, check its status and schedule first. More in Troubleshooting.
Assets can also target specific devices (iPhone, iPad, Android, web), so the same block can behave differently per platform.
Pages: where assets appear in your app
In the Mobile App VXE, a Page is a screen of your app built from an asset — used for things like "About Us", "Store Locator", or seasonal landing pages that appear in your app's menu.
Three things to know:
- A page links to one asset. Both the page and its asset must be published for the page to appear.
- Your app's menu lists pages in the order they were created.
- Each page has a slug — a short, unique, URL-friendly name (like
about-us). It's created automatically from the page name.
