Troubleshooting for Content Managers

Most content problems come down to a handful of causes — and almost all of them are fixable without a developer. Start with the checklist, then scan the symptom table.

"My content isn't showing" — the checklist

Work through these in order; each is a one-minute check:

  1. Is it published? Drafts and unpublished content never display. Check the status and toggle it to Published if needed.
  2. Is the schedule active right now? Look at Online from / Online to on web, or Start Date / End Date on mobile. A schedule that starts tomorrow, or ended yesterday, shows nothing today. Remember: times are your local timezone.
  3. Is it in the right slot? Content assigned to the wrong slot appears in the wrong place — or nowhere.
  4. Does the platform match? iPhone-only content won't appear on Android, and vice versa.
  5. Is the placement right? On the web, Category & Location and Web Slots must match the page you're looking at; in the app, the specification/screen must match.

Those are the five conditions that decide visibility — full explanation in Publishing & Scheduling.

Shows in the VXE, but not on the live website?

If all five check out and the content renders in the VXE preview but not on your production site, the cause is on the technical side (site integration, plan entitlement, or caching). Send your developer this link: Common Issues → Scheduled Content Display Issues. One thing to know: the live site can take around 5 minutes to pick up changes.

Symptom → fix

SymptomLikely cause & fix
The wrong (default) content is showingNothing is scheduled for this time and slot, so the fallback displays. Check what's scheduled for now with the date preview.
Content went live at the wrong timeTimezone confusion — schedule times are your local timezone. Coordinate launches against one agreed reference timezone.
My content disappearedIts schedule ended — expired content is automatically archived by a daily cleanup. Look in Archived, or check whether the End Date passed.
My edits aren't showing in previewTwo usual suspects: unsaved changes (click Save) or a cached page — hard refresh with Ctrl+F5 (Windows) / Cmd+Shift+R (Mac).
Preview looks wrong for the deviceCheck which device view (Desktop/Tablet/Mobile) is selected in the ribbon before judging the layout.
An image won't uploadFile too large (keep under ~5MB) or an unsupported format — use JPG, PNG, GIF, AVIF, WebP, or SVG.
A template won't save / fields are highlightedHighlighted fields are required — fill them in. If someone pasted custom code into the template, syntax errors can also block rendering.
Two items fighting over one slotThe VXE doesn't warn about schedule conflicts. Use the date preview to see the collision, then adjust one item's dates or move it to another slot.

Can't log in?

  • "Restricted access" message — your account hasn't been authorized yet; ask your workspace admin to add you.
  • Invalid credentials — check Caps Lock, then use Forgot Password.
  • Account locked — too many failed attempts; wait about 15 minutes and try again.
  • Company SSO issues — use your organization's enterprise login option, and try clearing your browser cache and cookies.
