Firebase Cloud Messaging

Using FCM requires one to:

  • Set up the app on firebase
  • Add Firebase to app
  • Add Pub/Sub on the firebase project
  • Copy Server Key and Sender Id

Adding Config for Firebase Cloud Messaging

From BILDIT-Visual Experience Engine go to:

  1. Go to configurations from the side Menu
  2. Select Push Notification Config
  3. If you don't have the service configurations available you may select Create Push Service.
  4. Select Service you would like to add configuration

If you already have the push service configuration for the FCM, it is disabled in the dropdown list. You can either edit the current FCM configurations from list or delete and add new FCM configuration.

  1. On Selection of the service, enter the App Name, enter the App Messenger ID as Sender Id and enter the App Messenger Key as the Server Key. Server Key and Sender Id are copied from earlier config.

  1. On Success the configurations is added

Make sure that configuration is active if you have multiple configurations to use the FCM service

Editing Config for Firebase Cloud Messaging

After following steps one and two above, if there is already an FCM push service in the list

  1. To edit Push Service Configuration. Click on the pencil icon from Actions.

  1. FCM modal will pop up with the update fields
  2. Make the changes you would like to use.
  3. Update.

BILDIT-Visual Experience Engine allows ONLY ONE configuration per service to allow consistency for the app

Setting Active Push Service Configuration

If you have list of push services, e.g., FCM and either oneSignal or airship, or both and FCM is not the active Push Service. In this case you would wish to set it as active.

  • Click on Set Active and on success you would notice the change with active tag.
