Manage Websites
Use the top-left switcher in the BILDIT Visual Experience Engine to choose which website (or app) you are editing, add another website after onboarding, and keep both a website and a mobile app in the same instance.
The same switcher is documented for Mobile in Managing Apps.
The switcher
Click the icon in the top-left. The dropdown lists:
- Apps – Mobile applications (iOS/Android)
- Add A New App – Create a new mobile app (Admin or Superuser only)
- Websites – Web properties (shown when the Web feature is enabled)
- Add A New Website – Create a new website (Admin or Superuser only)
Selecting an item switches context. Web scheduled content, slots, and templates are scoped to the selected website.
To open a website you already have:
- Click the icon in the top-left.
- Scroll to Websites.
- Select the environment you need (Development, Staging, or Production).
Add a website after onboarding
Onboarding usually creates your first website. Add more later from the switcher. You do not need to re-run onboarding.
- Sign in as Admin or Superuser.
- Click the icon in the top-left.
- Click Add A New Website.
- Complete the modal:
- Verify the website URL when prompted.
- Website ID – Unique ID (for example
fashionOne). - Website Name – Display name (for example
Fashion One). - Website Category – For example Ecommerce or Grocery.
- Environment – Development, Staging, or Production.
- Confirm. The website appears in the list. Select it, then continue with Getting Started and Next.js Integration so visitors can see scheduled content.
If Add A New Website is missing, the Web feature is not enabled for your org, or your role is not Admin/Superuser.
Add a mobile app from the same switcher
If you also ship a native app:
- Open the same top-left dropdown.
- Click Add A New App.
- Enter ID, App Name, App Type, and Environment, then confirm.
See Managing Apps (Mobile) for the full mobile field list.
Using both a website and an app
A single BILDIT account can hold websites and apps together. They stay separate in the switcher.
| Website | App | |
|---|---|---|
| Where content shows | Your Next.js (or other) site via slots | Native app / Appetize preview |
| What you edit | Web scheduled content, slots, templates | Scheduled content, specifications, components |
| How you switch | Select the website in the top-left switcher | Select the app in the same switcher |
Typical flow after onboarding:
- Keep the website you use for the storefront.
- Add an app if you also manage iOS/Android (or the reverse).
- Switch between them in the top-left. The sidebar and scheduled content list follow the selection.
- Give teammates access with Add a User.
Web and app content are not shared automatically. Publish each platform in its own context.
Environments
Each website (and each app) has an environment set when you create it:
| Environment | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Development | Early work and experiments |
| Staging | QA / UAT |
| Production | Live visitors |
The switcher shows an environment badge on each entry so you can see which data you are editing.
Summary
- After onboarding, add another website or app from Add A New Website / Add A New App in the top-left switcher (Admin or Superuser).
- You can run both a website and an app; pick the one you want to edit in the same dropdown.
- Scheduled content stays scoped to the selected website or app and its environment.
